Robert
Robert Ulliman heads FCL’s cold storage operations across the U.S. In this role, he leads our national team of resolute experts and has direct oversight for all FCL cold storage projects from concept to completion. He brings to his work over 30 years of experience in refrigerated warehouse design, temperature-controlled logistics and construction management.
Robert began his career in homebuilding before transitioning to cold storage. His first assignment involved working with a national grocery chain building their prototype, tri-temperature distribution center for all their U.S. locations. After that success, Robert traveled the county building cold storage facilities for many of the world’s leading food distributors.
Robert’s field experience is extensive, spanning the roles of superintendent, project manager, project executive, and director of construction. Later, he spent 18 years with Ben E. Keith Foods, establishing their in-house construction department and later overseeing and coordinating all new facilities as both their owner-representative and in-house general contractor.
His career path affords Robert deep experience with all aspects of cold storage projects, pre-construction, site layout & design, building thermal envelope, and project management. It also provides an intimate understanding of diverse stakeholders’ wins and perspectives. Along the way, he has built an extensive network and trusted relationships on all sides of the table, with developers, end-users, project teams and highly specialized trade partners.
